猛犸生活在約1萬1千年前，首次出現(xiàn)是480萬年前，約5000年前神秘滅絕，古脊椎動(dòng)物，哺乳綱，長鼻目，真象科。學(xué)名真猛犸象，也稱長毛猛犸象。猛犸是韃靼語“地下居住者”的意思，曾經(jīng)是世界上*的象。它身高體壯，有粗壯的腿，腳生四趾，頭特別大，在其嘴部長出一對彎曲的大門牙。猛犸象以自己整個(gè)種群的滅亡標(biāo)志了第四紀(jì)冰川時(shí)代的結(jié)束。也有一說是因?yàn)槿祟惖耐罋⒃斐闪嗣歪锵蟮臏缃^。
