學(xué)校創(chuàng)建于1994年的常德電腦技術(shù)學(xué)校;1998年更名為常德電腦專(zhuān)修*;2004年升格為湖南同德職業(yè);2014年升格為普通本科院校,更名為湖南應(yīng)用技術(shù)。

據(jù)2020年12月學(xué)校官網(wǎng)顯示,學(xué)校已建設(shè)占地面積1200畝,建筑面積30多萬(wàn)平方米;擁有專(zhuān)職教師570人,在校本、專(zhuān)科學(xué)生12651余人;開(kāi)設(shè)6個(gè)二級(jí)院系,開(kāi)辦21個(gè)本科專(zhuān)業(yè)、13個(gè)專(zhuān)科專(zhuān)業(yè)。
