1、concede
concede是動(dòng)詞,常見(jiàn)的有三個(gè)意思。
首先,指不情愿或勉強(qiáng)地“承認(rèn)”。
The Government has conceded that the new tax policy has been a disaster. 承認(rèn)新的稅收政策是徹底失敗的。
That principle now seems to have been conceded. 那條原則現(xiàn)在似乎已被承認(rèn)了。
第二,指不情愿地”讓步,讓與,答應(yīng)”。
He is not willing to concede any of his authority. 他不愿交出自己的任何權(quán)力。
Britain conceded independence to India in 1947. 英國(guó)在1947年承認(rèn)印度獨(dú)立。

2、concerning
concerning這時(shí)看作介詞,意為“關(guān)于,涉及”,也很常見(jiàn)。
He asked several questions concerning the future of the company. 他問(wèn)了幾個(gè)有關(guān)公司前途的問(wèn)題。
I've had a letter from the tax authorities concerning my tax payments. 我收到了稅務(wù)*寄來(lái)的關(guān)于我納稅情況的一封信。
concert作名詞,意為“音樂(lè)會(huì)”,詞組 in concert指“音樂(lè)會(huì)現(xiàn)場(chǎng)演出”。
We were going to a concert in Bath Abbey. 我們要去聽(tīng)一場(chǎng)在巴思修道院內(nèi)舉行的音樂(lè)會(huì)。
They're appearing in concert tonight at the Royal Concert Hall. 他們今晚將在皇家音樂(lè)大廳登臺(tái)演出。

4、concession
concession是常見(jiàn)的重要名詞,常見(jiàn)的主要有兩個(gè)意思。
首先,意為“妥協(xié),讓步”。
The British were not prepared to make any concessions. 英國(guó)人沒(méi)有打算作出讓步。
The committee has won a number of major concessions from the prison authorities. 會(huì)已經(jīng)從當(dāng)局那里爭(zhēng)取到一些重大的讓步。
第二,意為“特許權(quán),優(yōu)惠”。
The company has just won a mining concession in the north of the country. 這個(gè)公司剛剛?cè)〉昧嗽?北部的特許采礦權(quán)。
You can get travel concessions if you are under 26. 26歲以下者乘車(chē)可以獲得優(yōu)惠。
5、concise
concise是 形容詞,意為“簡(jiǎn)潔的,簡(jiǎn)明的”,等于brief。 Burton's text is concise and informative. 伯頓的文章語(yǔ)言簡(jiǎn)潔,信息豐富。 Whatever you are writing make sure you are clear, concise, and accurate. 無(wú)論寫(xiě)什么,一定要清晰、簡(jiǎn)練、準(zhǔn)確。6、conclude
